Understanding Fear and its Impact on Your Life

Fear as a Root cause of Anxiety

Anxiety is a common battle we all face as we live in a stressful world. The spiritual root of anxiety is fear. An acronym that defines our battle with fear is:

F – False

E – Evidence

A – Appearing

R – Real

Our spiritual enemy, Satan, uses fear to promote a false reality. The reality that the enemy delivers deceives us into believing that we live with lack instead of God’s reality of abundant life found in Jesus Christ.

Fear comes through doors that are opened in an individual’s life, such as fear of rejection or failure. Generationally, fear can flow through our DNA. Fear and anxiety create unhealthy coping through control. If you are trying to control other people or circumstances, you are operating in unhealthy power. Control can look aggressive towards others or avoidant.

Love is a Healing Key

Healing comes through love. Accepting God’s grace-filled love and loving yourself. As we come back into alignment with the principle of love, we can begin to live a life of purpose and peace.

The first step is accepting yourself in your relationship with God. He can help you eliminate self-rejection, self-hatred, guilt, and shame. As you come back into alignment with your true identity, love will bring freedom from anxiety.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears I not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18 (NIV)

After finding peace within yourself, it will become easier to make peace with others by offering forgiveness to them. Forgiveness is a daily process of releasing offenses and choosing the path of peace.

For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
