I just had the honor of speaking in Jacksonville, Florida at The Greatest Awakening Conference. It was a transformative event! We are living in such an incredible time in history. The Bride of Christ is truly beginning to awaken to all that has been purchased for us in our blood covenant with Jesus Christ. We have not only been given eternal salvation through the atoning work of His sacrifice as a sin offering, but He has given us the keys of the Kingdom. Which means we reign with Him now bringing God’s will on earth as it is in Heaven.
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will have been forbidden in heaven and what you permit on earth will have been permitted in heaven,” (Matthew 16:19, TLV).
When I was praying about what Father God wanted me to share at the conference, He led me to speak on the power of the blood covenant. I have grown up in church and have been familiar with the term covenant since I was young, but really did not fully understand the full meaning of blood covenant until more recently.
From the beginning of time and across every culture around the globe, blood is understood to represent life. When blood has been transferred from one life to another it is understood as equivalent to an inter-commingling of the two natures of the individuals. Henry Trumbull, a clergyman and author from the late 1800’s, who did extensive research and writing on covenants wrote it this way;
The inter-commingling of the blood of two organisms is, therefore, according to this view, equivalent to the inter-commingling of the lives, of the personalities, of the natures, thus brought together; so that there is, thereby and thenceforward, one life in the two bodies, a common life between the two friends. As it is the inter-commingling of very lives, nothing can transcend it. It forms a tie, or a union, which cannot be dissolved. In marriage, divorce is a possibility: not so in the covenant of blood.
This is the beauty of the oneness that we have in Jesus. His life becomes my life and my life his. A covenant of blood clearly involves an absolute surrender of one’s separate self and an irrevocable merging of one’s individual nature. Throughout history man has understood that when a blood covenant is entered into the two are bound to protect one another with their very lives and provide for one another from all of the resources they own. This was understood without question. This is one reason why the young man David could stand on a battle field without armor or battle experience, face Goliath and know without a doubt that Goliath was already defeated before David stepped out to meet him.
Then David asked the men who were standing by him saying, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the ranks of the living God?” (1 Samuel 17:26, TLV)
Circumcision was a sign of the covenant and David understood his covenant agreement with God. Goliath was defeated because David knew that God was his faithful covenant keeper. We can have the same confidence as David because we are under an even greater covenant in the blood covenant with Jesus Christ!
Steps in Pursuit
- What “giant” are you currently facing that is creating fear in your life? Call out like David to our faithful God, who will provide ALL that we need to overcome.
- How does your view of yourself change when you realize the truth and power of Galatians 2:20? Ask God to help you accept this true reality of who we are in Christ.
- When we can rest in the assurance that God is bound by the blood covenant to protect us and provide for us all that we need for this life, how does that change the pressure that we feel in daily life? I encourage you to release all the stress and striving, as though the burden is all on you to carry.
When we begin to realize that through the blood of Jesus we have adoption into the family of God and oneness with Him, it becomes the greatest awakening of our lives…
Continue the Pursuit,
