Kidneys Communicate

What is your default setting during times of stress? Do you default to fear or do you frame the problem that you are facing through the lens of God’s love?

As I walk with individuals through the process of emotional realignment in their pursuit of health, we often have to release certain negative emotions that have been stored energetically in the kidneys. Some of these emotions are: fear, dread, performance, judgment, shame, false burden, and unworthiness. Now you may be asking, like I did, “Why are all of these negative emotions resonating so strongly at the kidney organs of the body?” This question took me into a deep lesson with God that I am still learning.

Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.

 (I John 4:18, TPT)

Fear is one of the enemy’s number one weapons against our identity in Jesus Christ. It manifests in anxiety, shame and unworthiness and promotes isolation in relationships and seeking out other comforts for false refuge. A false refuge can be anything that we turn to when we are dealing with stress and pain rather than turning to God.

The kidneys and adrenals are involved in maintaining balance in the body. They help regulate blood pressure, the acid-base balance, electrolytes and produce various hormones. The adrenals are located on each of the two kidneys. Adrenaline is produced in the adrenals and because of stress, a lot of people experience adrenal fatigue and feel a lack of energy for daily life.

As I began to dig into the importance of the kidneys, I noticed that the Bible had a lot to say about the kidneys. In Hebraic understanding, the heart is seen as the seat of the mind, and is where thoughts and intentions take place. The kidneys are regarded as the seat of the tenderest and deepest emotions and the core of a man.

I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons (Psalm 16:7, KJV)

Reins is the word for kidneys that is the more literal translation for the Hebrew word used in this passage.

In the Old Testament books of Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy there are many scriptures that refer to the kidneys and the fat that is on them and the cover over them being placed on the altar of sacrifice.

When you begin to look at all the references to the kidneys in scripture we see that:

-Kidneys are able to think

-They are judged for how they think by God

-According to Hebrew thought the reins are the seat of the deepest emotions & affections of man.

-They are owned by God. He literally expresses ownership over the kidneys.

-He has purchased back the kidneys.

The kidneys seem to be ground zero for our secure, loving relationship with God in the body. With all of this in mind, let’s go back and read I John 4:16-17:

We have come into an intimate experience with God’s love, and we trust in the love he has for us. God is love! Those who are living in love are living in God, and God lives through them. By living in God, love has been brought to its full expression in us so that we may fearlessly face the day of judgement, because all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world. (TPT)

Steps in Pursuit

  1. Release fear and dread of “not being good enough”, at the kidney area, which is your low back. After releasing the negative emotions, receive the perfect love of God for you.
  2. Use the passage in I John 4:16-18 as a prayer to resonate daily in the power of God’s love over your life.
  3. Spend some time forgiving yourself, or other’s who have rejected you in different ways. Often we are the hardest on ourselves. Choose through God’s love to accept all of who you are, so his perfect love can flow through you.

Our bodies are amazing in the way they show us what we are carrying deep inside. When we are facing stress and painful situations, we are not alone. God’s perfect love for us, will carry us through.

Continue the Pursuit,

Denise
